Q: Tell us a little about yourself! What is the inspiration behind your Instagram page?

Hello, I have been a pediatric OT for 5 years now. The first year was at a private preschool, and the next 4 years have been at the NYC DOE in an elementary school. I have also worked in home care early intervention for all 5 years. I was inspired to create an instagram page because I love being creative and coming up with fun treatment ideas. I started taking pictures of them on my phone so I wouldn’t forget them incase I wanted to re use them in following years. I greatly enjoyed looking online at other OT accounts for their brilliant ideas, so I thought why not share mine too. It helps me to keep all my ideas in one place, and I can save good ideas that others share too. It’s been a nice networking tool.

Q: We have loved seeing your page grow, and all the amazing projects and activities you share, and we learn so much as you incorporate play based learning into your posts! What inspired you to want to be a Brand Ambassador?

I wanted to become a Brand Ambassador for the pencil grip because they make so many great products that I knew my students could benefit from using. It keeps my sessions exciting when I have new products for them to try out. It also helps me to have products for all skill levels. The products are all so high quality so I look forward to getting a new package.

Q: What is your favorite product of ours that you have tried so far?  Can you tell us more about why you love this product, and if you have any tips or tricks when using it or favorite techniques? Is there anything in particular that has helped you blend creativity, play, and learning together with your children and any advice you can provide to others?

My favorite product has to be the Magic Stix markers. The triangular shape is great for little hands to hold, and helps promote a tripod grasp. Also they last up to 7 days without a cap which is helpful when students are always dropping the caps. They have very vibrant colors which the students love and it makes their projects look really nice. Also they stay organized in the little case they come in. We can make so many creative projects with these markers. My best advice for using this product is that you can even hang their project up on the white board or wall so they have to do “vertical writing” as they color it in. This is great to promote wrist strength, and while the wrist is extended that helps them to control the writing utensil within their finger tips.

Q: We love that you incorporate amazing videos of your activities on your page! What is one of your favorite projects you have created using our products? There have been so many great posts you have made, and we want to know which stands out to you!

My favorite project had to be the coffee filter butterflies. The colors were so vibrant and the kids loved to take them home to their families. I think they came out awesome!

Q: What’s next for you? Do you have any exciting crafts or activities planned for the back to school months ahead?!

I would love to do some beautiful fall foliage themed crafts when we get beck to school, using either the Magic Stix Markers or the Kwik Stix paint markers. I think the fall leaves are so pretty in the NYC area so I love to have my students recreate them.
