Q: Tell us a little about yourself! What is the inspiration behind your Instagram page?

I’m a stay at home mom with a background in Pediatric nursing and Healthcare IT. My page was inspired by my little one.  After moving to a different state I was missing my old mom friends and playgroups, so I started looking for ways to entertain my toddler online. Welp, we got hit with a pandemic shortly after and were all stuck at home, isolated, and looking for ways to keep our kiddos busy indoors. Our page became a lifeline to the outside world and a creative outlet. I discovered my creativity loved being inspired by my little ones interests, the amazing play and crafts ideas shared by other mamas (just like me, trying to survive from one sleep to the next, one activity at a time) and the possibility of inspiring others.

Q: It has been so wonderful seeing your page grow (including a new YouTube channel!) and seeing all of your amazing creations! What inspired you to want to be a Brand Ambassador?

I was crafting with a lot of cardboard when I came across an Instagram post with the most striking colors painted on the side of a cardboard box using only your Kwik Stix paint sticks.  At the time, I hadn’t seen anything that offered such bold and brilliant pigmentation without making a ridiculous mess of my house or my child. I searched and tried several products and nothing came close. Once I finally got my hands on the Classic Color set that was it!  I was hooked, became an instant super fan, and decided the rest of the world (…or at least my family and friends, haha) needed to know about it’s awesomeness. A brand ambassador opportunity popped-up and I jumped at the chance to represent a crafting product I adore and can 100% stand behind!

Q: What is your favorite product of ours that you have tried? We would love to hear more about why you love this product, and if you have any tips or tricks when using it? Is there anything in particular that has helped you in incorporating science and art together?

The Kwik Stix solid tempura paint sticks are my absolute favorite! I love how quickly it dries, how easy it is for my toddler to use (twisting and capping is great for strengthening her little hand muscles), such gorgeous colors that apply so boldly to just about any surface, and how many ways you can use it in art and play! My favorite tips: applying multiple colors while wet produces a beautiful blending effect and if you don’t like something, let it dry and paint right over it! Ok, I’d like to add those tips to my why I love them answer please.

While my little one is still young and doesn’t completely understand the STEM activities we do, she does seem to appreciate the bright and vivid colors that come along with including our Kwik Stixs and Magic Stix in our fun. It definitely helps to spark interest in whatever we’re doing and the pretty colors makes her stay.

Q: What is one of your favorite projects you have created using our products? There are so many amazing ones you have posted, and we want to know which creation stands out to you!

I have two favorites; 1.) the “SNOW Way!” magical rainbow snow cones because it was our first STEM-and-Craft activity and 2.) the “A WORLD of Our Own” craft we did for Earth Day because I love watching my daughter expressing her creativity through process art (even if some of that expression takes place on her)… fun fact: it actually ended up looking like Earth too which kind of blew my mind… and my joining in the crafting fun made it a sweet mama and me collab.

Q: What’s next for you? Do you have plans for any activities or projects we can look forward to or anything in the works for the remainder of 2021? Can you share some details with us about your new website and YouTube Channel?

As far as activities I’d love to come up with more STEM-and-Craft ideas that keep exposing my little girl to the coolness of science and magic of art. We’re also branching out in 2021 and expanding our reach online and to other platforms. Along with the craft and play ideas we showcase on our Instagram page, we’re adding our family travel adventures to the mix (along with tips, hacks, and reviews for traveling with young children) and sharing all of it on YouTube, our new website, and more by the end of this year. We’re hoping this will make us more accessible to friends not on Instagram and inspire more families to make the most of their time together playing at home and away. If you’re interested in following along, you can find us on Instagram @aplaywego, our website www.aplaywego.com, and our YouTube channel, aPLAYweGo!
